Ulf Solid Oak Bench

The Ulf solid oak bench is handcrafted from solid European oak in our Leicestershire workshop. Its strong, simple proportions combine with a distinctive tiger-striped finish to create a bold and characterful piece of furniture.

A Distinctive Handcrafted Finish

We create Ulf’s striking appearance using a carefully developed finishing process.

First, we resaw the solid oak through the bandsaw, which creates fine sawn lines across the timber. Next, we apply a dark nut-brown stain to bring out the texture and character of the oak.

We then carefully sand the timber back. This reveals the contrasting tiger-striped pattern while creating a smooth, tactile surface. Therefore, although Ulf has the appearance of textured, rough-sawn oak, it feels smooth to the touch.

Finally, we protect the oak with Osmo Polyx oil. This provides a durable finish while enhancing the depth, grain and striped character of the timber.

Handmade from solid European oak

We individually make each solid oak bench from European oak using traditional woodworking techniques. The substantial construction provides strength and durability. Meanwhile, the simple design allows the unusual oak finish to remain the focal point.

Ulf works beautifully as a hallway bench, dining bench, boot-room seat, bedroom bench or occasional seat.

We handcraft every Ulf solid oak bench to order in our Leicestershire workshop. Simply choose from the available sizes to suit your space.

Solid oak naturally varies in grain, knots and colour. In addition, our hand-finishing process creates subtle differences in the tiger-striped pattern. As a result, no two Ulf benches will be exactly alike.

We make each Ulf bench individually in our Leicestershire workshop. Natural variations in grain, knots and colour mean that every bench has its own individual character.

We carefully shape, sand and finish each bench by hand to create a piece of solid oak furniture made for everyday use.
