The Vidar Character White Oak Bench is handcrafted from carefully selected solid character white oak in our Leicestershire workshop. Designed to celebrate the natural beauty of the timber, Vidar features distinctive curved solid oak legs alongside the knots, swirling grain and natural markings that give character oak its unique appeal.

For example, every bench is different. Grain patterns flow naturally through each piece of timber, while knots and variations in colour give every Vidar its own individual appearance.

Handcrafted from Solid Character White Oak

We make each Vidar solid oak bench from carefully selected character white oak, carefully selecting the timber for its strength, durability and distinctive appearance.

In addition, character white oak celebrates the features that occur naturally within the tree. Knots, swirling grain, figuring and variations in tone and texture become part of the finished furniture rather than something we try to hide.

We carefully select and position the timber to make the most of these natural features. As a result, no two Vidar benches will ever look exactly alike.

Distinctive Curved Leg Design

One of the defining features of the Vidar is its gently curved solid oak legs.

The curves soften the profile of the bench and complement the organic patterns within the character white oak. As a result, Vidar has a distinctive appearance while retaining the strength and simplicity expected from a handmade solid oak bench.

Therefore, the finished bench works beautifully in both contemporary and traditional interiors.

Finished with Osmo Polyx®-Oil Original

We carefully sand and prepare every Vidar by hand before applying Osmo Polyx®-Oil Original.

This premium hardwax oil protects the oak while enhancing its natural colour, grain and texture. Importantly, the finish allows the knots, swirling grain and individual character of the timber to remain clearly visible and tactile.

As a result, the result is a beautiful, durable natural finish suitable for everyday furniture.

A Versatile Character White Oak Bench

This versatile solid oak bench has a comfortable 45cm seat height and compact 30cm depth, Vidar works well in many different areas of the home.

Use it as a hallway or entrance bench, bedroom bench, occasional seat or compact living-room bench. Its relatively narrow depth also makes it particularly useful in hallways and other spaces where a deeper piece of furniture might feel intrusive.

Choose between 70cm, 80cm and 90cm widths to find the size that best suits your space.

Handmade in Leicestershire

We individually handcraft every Vidar in our Leicestershire workshop using carefully selected solid character white oak and traditional woodworking techniques.

Natural knots, swirling grain, colour variation and other markings are an intentional part of the character white oak we use. Consequently, every finished bench is unique, and these natural features will vary from the photographs shown.

Each Vidar is made to order, individually sanded and hand-finished with Osmo Polyx®-Oil Original, creating a distinctive piece of solid oak furniture designed to be used and enjoyed for many years.
